I was on a ride yesterday and was thinking….I have been doing this ride for a long time. Del Mar to Carlsbad on the 101 Highway.
I started in 1982. 30 years ago…….
In 1982 I was 16 and had to get special permission from the head of athletics at school to have cycling be my independent PE. He thought cycling was a joke. Only cared about basketball. Oh well.
If I can find it, I also have a part 2 to this post.
Chris King Silver threaded 1″ in silver. Not in stock anywhere. I even called Chris King directly and they were out of stock.
I remembered one place that might have it. He had one. Thanks to Bill Ron Bicycles
I’m looking for Czech industrial designer Lukas Vanek.
Shouldn’t be that hard. We are all supposed to be only 6 people removed from everyone….
Please contact me at my website www.ybarrola.com
Here are a few more pictures. It is hard to see from my phone camera, but it is a nice red wine color with pearl in it and a little metallic. It really looks nice in the sun.
Frame is all done and ready for pickup. After a frame is painted it needs to be prepped for the build. This means making sure all threads and mating faces are to spec. and free from paint. I run a tap through all the threaded holes to get the dried paint out, face and chase the bottom bracket threads and make sure the fork and head tube are also faced. This bike had 18 holes to tap.
Of course most production frames don’t get this type prep, but with a custom frame it is a must. It makes the bicycle go together easier, perform better and last longer.
Here is a photo of a water bottle braze on being cleaned out.
The next picture is the bottom bracket faced. It needs both sides faced since it is an outboard bearing crank.
My wife’s bike built up in the same color scheme as mine (white tape/white saddle). This is where those other Ambrosio/White Ind. wheels went.
